Manama, Bahrain: Batelco, the Kingdom's leading telecommunications company, was the most successful entrant at the GEMAS Effie MENA Awards 2010 taking home more awards than any other entrant in the annual event.
The major event which took place at the Al Jawhara Ballroom, Dubai, on November 4th is considered to be the Oscars of the Marketing Communications industry for the MENA region. This year Effie organizers have received more than 500 entries from companies around the region representing a wide range of industries.
At the Effie Awards, marketing campaigns are judged, based on their effectiveness as well as on the creative idea behind them, by a panel of experts selected from a number of major regional companies.
Batelco entered into the annual competition in cooperation with FP7, one of Bahrain's leading advertising agencies, who worked hand in hand with Batelco to deliver the award winning campaigns. Batelco took home a gold award and four silver awards in 4 categories.
In the Best Use of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) category, Batelco received a Gold Award. The Company took home one Silver Award in the Sports Marketing Campaign category and the Best Youth Marketing Campaign category and 2 Silver Awards in the Telecommunication Mobiles & Internet category.
Batelco stood out from all competitors at the annual event by making five appearances on the stage to collect their awards.
Batelco General Manager Consumer Division Muna Alhashemi and Executive Marketing Manager Abdulla Abu Idrees, who collected the awards on behalf of the Company, said that it was a proud evening for Batelco.
"Batelco is very proud to have rolled out some very innovative and unique marketing campaigns during 2010 in cooperation with FP7. We thank them for their tremendous input and are delighted that the creativity and efforts have been recognised at the Effie Award ceremony," Muna Al Hashimi said.
Batelco Group General Manager Media Relations Ahmed Al Janahi lauded Batelco's Consumer Division and marketing teams and all who worked tirelessly over 2010 to deliver over 100 successful campaigns for Batelco.
The Effie Awards were founded in 1968 by the American Marketing Association, New York Chapter, as an awards programme to recognize the most effective advertising efforts in the world each year. The mission is to recognize, educate and encourage effectiveness among the marketing communications industry.
In July of 2008, the New York AMA assigned its rights to the Effie brand over to a new entity named Effie Worldwide, Inc. Effie Worldwide exists today to offer data and insight pertaining to effectiveness and real, measurable results in marketing communications.Back
