Manama, Bahrain: Batelco, Bahrain's leading Telecommunications Company, was presented with the Best Telecom Deal of the Yearaward for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the 4th annual CommsMEA Awards held in Dubai Tuesday, December 8th.
The CommsMEA Awards set out to celebrate and pay tribute to the telecoms industry professionals and operators that have shown outstanding performance and results in key market segments.
"We are delighted to have achieved this recognition in taking the award for leading Telecom Dealof the Year for the Middle East and Africa region," said Batelco General Manager Media and Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi.
"Batelco has embarked on an ambitious expansion strategy which aims at increasing scale and scope of its business through selective acquisitions and mergers across MENA and Asia," said Batelco's GM Media & Government Relations Ahmed Al Janahi
The judges were particularly impressed with Batelco's successful acquisition of the Indian startup Stel.
The Awards were judged by an interdependent panel of regional telecommunications experts and the winners were rewarded at a gathering attended by more than 200 senior executives and personalities from the Middle East and African telecommunications industry and other VIPs.
"This accolade rounds out a slew of awards picked up by Batelco in recent months," noted Mr. Al Janahi.
"Batelco Group won the Telecoms Technology Investment in Mobile Networks of the Year award for Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the 3rd annual CommsMEA Awards held in Dubai on December 15th 2008. Additionally, Batelco was placed 1st in the Middle East and 2nd in the World at the 2008 Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging (PIXI) Awards, held recently in Chicago, USA. Furthermore, Batelco won awards for Best Fixed 3G, 4G, Wireless Broadband - WiMax, HSDPA, UMTS, LTE and Best FMC "Convergence" Operator, in the Architect Award category of the inaugural SAMENA Regional Awards 2008 which took place in Jordan.Back
